Operation:

The Ribbon Blender is an efficient and versatile blending machine for mixing of dry granules & powders homogeneously. Approximate two third of the volume of the container of Ribbon Blender is filled to ensure proper mixing.

The Ribbon Blender gives the best result for mixing of dry powder & granules due to the design and shape of the mixing ribbon and product container. It can be used for Pharmaceutical, Food, Chemical and Cosmetic products etc.

The material should be charge from the top side. There are port/ports should be provided on the top cover to charge the material as well as for air vent. One discharge valve provided at the bottom side at the center of the container. The discharge height could be adjusted as per the requirement, so that material gets the discharge in the other container directly, so that material handling time for discharge is nil and the operation is dust free.

About Ribbon Blender:

In Ribbon Blender the powder moves from center to the end of container and end of the container to the center of the container. Hence the requirement of total mixing time is very less and the RPM required is also very less.

The dry material gets sufficient continuous movement due to the shape & movement of ribbon & shape of the container., which moves material for the good quality of blending.

The unit is consist of one electrical motor, one worm reduction gear, belt drive between motor and gear, couple drive between gear to ( ribbon ) mixing stirrer. Container having four nos. of legs with discharge valve & top cover. Both ends of mixing shaft are sealed with bush & PTFE gland housing & safety guards are provided on all moving parts.

• The shape of container and mixing stirrer gives sufficient continuous movement to the powder/granules, result in good quality.
• All contact parts of the Ribbon Blender are made out of SS304/SS316 or SS316 L quality material.
• Maximum care has been taken to ensure safe operation of the unit.
• Inching facility for stirrer for a discharge of material.
• Full cover on the top side of the container.
• Discharge height must be adjusted if confirmed with the order.
• The operating panel provided for safe operation of Ribbon Blender.
• Centrally located material Discharge valve. ( Butterfly / Sliding Valve )
• Dustproof top cover with the window provided.
• General structure completely made out of mild steel & painted in Standard Model & the same is loaded with SS304 in GMP model.
• Safety Guards & Covers made out of SS304 in GMP Model & made out of mild steel in Standard Model.
• Legs made out of M.S & painted in Standard Model & same will be claded with SS304 in GMP Model.
• The panel provided with following facilities in 500 Liters & bigger model of Ribbon Blenders. In the Small model of Ribbon Blender - only D.O.L. starter provided for On-Off operation of the motor.
• Three phase indication facility.
• D.O.L. starter for on-off operation of the motor.
• Emergency stop provided in the panel.
• Digital timer for batch time setting.
• Ampere meter to indicate the load of the motor in ampere.
• The limit switch provided at the top cover for safety purpose.
• Inching push button with the selector switch for inching operation during discharge of material.

Ribbon Blender is a light duty blender mainly used for easy to mix powder components which are pre-processed like dried granules, pre-sieved powders etc. It is a LOW SHEAR mixer and mostly used for SOLID / SOLID Mixing. Solid / Liquid mixing can also be achieved when high shearing force is not desired. It occupies less head room space for large volume mixing unlike Double Cone, ‘V’ Blenders etc.

Ribbon Blender are a specific type of powder blenders that consist of 2 parts mounted on a central shaft . The mixing medium often consists of inner and outer helical ribbons that are designed to move material both inwards and outwards. The external helical ribbons pull product from the sides of the mixer into the middle and the internal ribbons push the product back to the sides. The back-and-forth folding motion of the materials to be blended creates a convective mixing pattern.

The ribbons are designed to have precise gap tolerances between the walls of the mixer. In some instances, they can even be designed with soft material wipers to help keep product from building up on the sides. The drive mechanism often consists of a belt drive for the powder transmission between the motor and gear box. This arrangement would use a system of flexible belts and pulleys to produce the desired speed and torque required for the specific mixing application. However, more manufacturers are starting to use direct drives via gear motors that utilize a motors low inertia rotor to specifically match the gearbox unit. The advantage of this arrangement means less maintenance over the life of the industrial mixer.

Make sure to understand the required volume capacity of the mixer you are in need of. Knowing the bulk densities of the ingredients to be mixed is crucial to understanding the required capacity of your mixer, and more importantly the needed motor power required to mix your batches properly. Most standard design mixers will work just fine with a product bulk density of 35 lbs./ft³. However, once you start mixing denser batches the need for heavy duty motors and gear ratio changes will also be required.
